What the fuck is Sarcoma???

weekend over!

We got back from Minnesota last night. We saw my family, and I gave Julie the poncho I knitted. I got to spend time with my nieces and that was great. My older sister Tina behaved herself and didn't get crazy. She did ignore Bill completely, however. Not sure why. Better than going nuts I suppose. Julie's husband was mellow as hell and I'm just glad. The whole visit freaked me out nonetheless and I was trying not to take it out on Bill, but I caught myself sometimes being short with him when I didn't mean to.
Julie has sarcoma in her chest, and she's getting a pet scan today to find out how extensive it is. She starts her radiation and chemotherapy on thursday, so I've got to knit her a hat and send it soon. I've already started but you know how I am - slow!
The drive up and back was very pleasant. Bill and I rented a car and drove up, and instead of small talk I read to him from the Orson Scott Card book, Pastwatch. That's a great story and I'm glad he liked it. We didn't finish the book, but I can still read to him the ending when we've got some more time. I'd kind of like to find out how it ends too! I've read it numerous times, but not for a long while.
I saw my doctor today, and he recommended some things for my arthritis. He said to wear socks and gloves to bed, or take an 8-hr. Tylenol arthritis pill right before bed so that it's still in effect when I wake up. That's in addition to the Piroxicam I'm already taking, and also Glucosamine & Chondroitin. Then! I'm to take some seriously high doses of B12 which I can buy over the counter. We'll see how I improve. I don't have to get a blood test for a few more weeks. I just want the aching in my ankles and wrists to stop. At least the Piroxicam has helped with the pain in my hands that I have when I wake up each day. Now I'm mostly stiff, but without the sharp, shooting pains I was having before.
I'm worried about Julie. My other sister Heather says that after chemo a person will lose their hair between 2 weeks - 2 months. I guess she's in the know- she was up on all the medications and stuff. Maybe she's in school for that. Sounded like it. She's pretty smart anyway. AND a gamer?? She told me she's been playing World of Warcraft every spare minute between classes and homework. That is the coolest thing. Maybe we'll finally have some common ground between us.

in which persistence pays off

So on a lark I sent off another set of divorce papers...and they didn't come back right away. I started thinking about that yesterday, and got a bit excited because if it was going to be bounced, that would've happened already.
It was in my mailbox, signed, and ready to file. WOOOOOOT~!
I cannot wait for tomorrow, when I go down and file this shit.

does it ever fucking stop?

So I got a call from my big sister Julie and she's got cancer. Actually my lunatic sister Tina called me and left it on my answerphone. Bill and I are going out there on Saturday to visit. I'm looking forward to cheering up Julie, but I am already cringing about seeing Tina. She's really a lunatic. I'm not exaggerating.

death email flurry

Me to the State of Minnesota:
Hello there - my husband and I split up over 8 years ago - and I cannot locate him. There is a chance that he may be dead and I just don't know it. How do I find out if he is alive or dead? Every mailing has come back no longer at those addresses. I would like to save myself the cost of a divorce if I'm actually a widow.

Thank you

Them to me:
Your email was forwarded to me- normally I would not search for an email, but

If you give me his full legal name and date of birth, I will see if I can find out if he has died.

Me to them:
Hi Carol, thank you in advance for anything you may find out. I went ahead and ordered a copy of our marriage certificate so that I can go to the Social Security office here and ask them for more info too. This is more complicated than I thought!!

His full name is Todd John Wendt, birthdate July 29, 1967.

Them again:
I have searched the data bases covering the years from 1996 to the present and do not see that he died in Minnesota.
We only have access to Minnesota Records. He could have died in another state?
Perhaps you could contact any family or friends that he had to see if they have any information about him.

Me again:
Thanks for checking, Carol. I used a people-finder service last year to find any of his relatives when I couldn't find him and was not able to get anywhere. I think I'll just go ahead with the divorce whether he's alive or not. I appreciate the help!! =)

Me to State of Utah:
Hello there,

I am trying to find out if my missing husband is actually dead, therefore saving me the trouble and expense of a divorce. He disappeared eight years ago, last known address some town in Utah, as of 2000. If I provide our marriage certificate can you tell me if there is a death record for him in the state of Utah?

His full name is Todd John Wendt, born 7-29-1967.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

State of Utah to me:

The Utah State Vital Records office contains Certificates for Utah only. If the occurrence happened in another State, you will need to contact that State. You can call our office for their contact information at 538-6380 or go to www.uscerts.com or www.vitalchek.com.

You may request Death, Marriage, Divorce, Stillbirth and Birth Certificates through the mail or in our office. You must be a spouse or direct relative (sibling, parent or grandparent) to obtain certificates, if not-you must provide us with written and notarized permission from one, or State Certified papers showing guardianship.

We require a current photo ID (of the person making the request), and fees are as follows:

Birth Certificate: $15.00 Additional copies: $8.00 each

Death Certificate: $13.00 Additional copies: $8.00 each

Marriage Certificate: $9.00 Additional copies: $8.00 each

Divorce Certificate: $9.00 Additional copies: $8.00 each

Stillbirth Certificate: $12.00 Additional copies: $8.00 each

We accept cash, check, and credit cards. (Credit cards are not accepted through mail requests)

---end---

All right, so there's obviously a bit different way that these things can be handled. I got so much help in Minnesota it makes me think they are either on the ball, or they are just cooler and understand what a pain this is.
